Lee's Summit Lee's Summit is located on the south and east end of metropolitan Kansas City Missouri. Just 16 miles from downtown and 33 miles from the airport, Lee's Summit population is 86,900 and growing. Being the 4th largest city in Missouri, Independence provides lots of history. Besides being the hometown of our 33rd president, Harry Truman, it is where the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon Trails all meet.
