Blue Springs Missouri Real Estate & Information

Blue Springs, Missouri, is located in Jackson County about 20 miles east of downtown Kansas City, Mo. The 2010 United States census reported its population as 52,575.

The city began when pioneers stopped along the sparkling cool, clear spring waters of the Little Blue River in 1827 and decided to stay and make it their home. Today, Blue Springs offers a wealth of shopping, recreation and nightlife while remaining true to its roots as a rural trading center.

Shopping and Dining
In the city of Blue Springs you will discover a cornucopia of shopping and dining options, including national restaurant and retail chains as well as locally owned and operated eateries and specialty shops.

Oh sure, you could take a short drive into Kansas City and check out any number of retail shopping malls and diverse dining establishments. It’s just an added benefit of living in a suburban community like Blue Springs.

Another huge benefit is that you don’t have to make that drive if you don’t want to. Among the myriad shops and cafes in Blue Springs you will find The Home Depot, Russell Stover Candies and Petals & Potpourri, along with restaurants like Rancho Grande Cantina, Minsky’s Pizza and Zarda Bar-B-Que.

Parks and Recreation

Dotting and beautifying neighborhoods throughout the Blue Springs community are 18 public parks, including four that have been left in the unspoiled, undeveloped condition Mother Nature intended for them. The addition of the city’s 18-hole public golf course brings the total of lush, green parkland in and around Blue Springs to more than 675 acres.

Located about a mile northwest of Blue Springs, Burr Oaks is a 15,000 square foot State-managed nature center that encompasses more than 1,000 acres of prairie and forest land, along with peaceful ponds and bubbling streams.

Life in Blue Springs includes celebrating each season of the year.

The winter holiday season brings brilliant, colorful lights to the city’s streets. As the snow and ice melt in the spring, the athletic fields sprout new life right alongside the flowers, trees and grass. Feed your soul with one of the free concerts every Sunday night during the summer in Rotary Park. And in the fall, Blue Springs boasts the world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day parade!
